Message I wouldn't recommend EBay or other internet resellers other than the actual manufacture or their specific resellers. Those systems you see on Ebay are reburbished systems and are not covered under manufactures warranties, in fact Directed Electronics would not even answer any questions unless you are a certified installer.

I chose the Viper over others without the remote starter (personal choice), but Clifford is basically the same. their website has a pretty intuitive selection of models as well as options for each model.
Once I decided to go with Viper model with the accessories/options I wanted, I figured how bad can installation be? So I tackled it my self.
Looked at some of the FAQ on TT.Net to get some ideas but decided to do things a bit different, besides their instructions were focused on the specific models they chose and mine was a bit more complicated.
I got all the accessories in the locations recommended by the manufacture and where I would want them in the car as well, but came across some wiring issues. Thanks to Bernie and BigTdogg for helping me figure out whether the starting system was a NC or NO system. But even after that I can across other obstacles.
I decided to contact the store where I bought the alarm (local to me) and ask them some questions, well they were very helpful however I still had more questions since I wanted to integrate the turbo timer as well as other items like ECU and fuel pump power cut off switches, etc.
So, at the end they gave me a quote to complete the work and it was too good to pass so I had them finish the work. Well come to find out the controller was bad out of the box but since I had them install it, it was covered under the manufacture's warranty and they were able to get me a new one at no extra cost. Directed Electronics which is the manufacture of both Viper and Clifford has an specific warranty that if the device is installed by other than a certify installer, you can kiss your warranty good bye.

So my thoughts are, what ever system you choose, make sure it's purchased and installed by a manufacture certified installer. the cost of the alarm as well as the risk of damage to your car's electrical system is not worth the risk.
